POSTER: ACRYL ON PAPER – UNIQUE [594×841mm]

KLICH had the possibility to to make an audiovisual session at the Art Book Fair

«The challenge at the performance was, to take the listener on the nerves and dissolve the voltage not too early. A certain intolerance of sound environment had to be unconditional and could only be loosened with gentle synthesizer interventions for the listener.»

«In a Metamodernen world, everything is simultaneously: Digital Music and LP's – Lomo photography and digital cameras – industrial inkjet prints and classic oil painting – war and peace.»

«I think every medium is well when it serves my work as an artist. Appropriate it – Use it – Violeta it – make it your own»

REBEKKA SCHAERER & ANDRÉ SEILER

SONG: 4.44 MIN. [MP3 320 KBPS]

POSTER: DIGITALPRINT [594×841mm]

GLASS is the first KLINCH release and was produced by Rebekka Schaerer and André Seiler.
In the atelier of the artist Bernd Kniel, they played with glass. During this session, the artists took pictures, made films, painted, and collected sounds.

glass session

Glass is not simply a fragile crystalline pane It’s molecular structure is referred to as a «solid liquid». The various options for interpretation made the artists search for and create flowing forms and sounds but also beats and images which include structure and rhythm.

In a collective work we tried to capture the complexity of glass and reflect it in pictures and sounds.

FLOYD SCHULZE & KILIAN SPINNLER

SONG: 6.12 MIN. [MP3 320 KBPS]

POSTER: OFFSET [594×841mm]

In a tranquil studio in the «Riehmerschen Hofgärten» in Berlin, the musician Kilian Spinnler aka Das Filter met the graphic designer Floyd Schulze also known as WTHM for a KLINCH session.

backwards session

While sitting together for a coffee we had the idea to create a project regarding the topic «Backwards». with great enthusiasm we began to mirror forms, play sounds backwards and reverse pictures into their «negative» source. During the work process we found a strict grid for beats and drums, which could also be graphically constituted forming the basis for both pieces. The result is a groovy house track with a matching, clearly structured poster.

«The direct exchange was very interesting. Floyd was always listening to what I do and I follow his work-process on the screen. To work like that was completely new for me, I usually produce for myself alone or with other musicians, but not with graphic artists.»
[Kilian Spinnler to the question; «How were you influenced by the direct contact with the graphic designer?»]

backwards session

«This is simply a question of money. Of course it is always nice to keep a physical recorded music in hand. However it is simply no longer necessary. You can also publish and play digitally.»
[Kilian Spinnler to the question; «Do you prefer physical sound records such as CD or LP or are those relics for you?»]

ATLAS STUDIO & CLINKER

SONG: 8.31 MIN. [MP3 320 KBPS]

POSTER: SILKSCREEN [594×841mm]

Between industrial buildings, old containers and run-down shacks is Friederike Leuenberger’s screen printing studio «Durchdruck». Her studio is the location for the KLINCH release «RUST» with musician Yannick Frich aka Clincker and the graphic designer Claudio Gasser
from the ATLAS studio.

glass session

The seedy, industrial atmosphere provides the theme for both song and poster. The artists transferred patina and defects into their pieces and created a complex work. In a collective work we tried to capture the complexity of glass and reflect it in pictures and sounds.

«Since there is no time for searching solutions you work much more intuitively. I think the result is simple since the constraints of screen printing let you work in a much less complicated way.

In the format «poster and song», I see the chance of the haptic dimension bringing about this «want to have»-wish in combination with the music. I think this kind of release is for enthusiasts and not for a broader audience.»
